At Niche Nannies giving back is at the core of our business and is something we feel is a very important thing to do. As a result 5% of all full overseas placement fees are donated to our supported charities. We have chosen 2 charities to support as a company that are close to all of our hearts.
Giving is the highest expression of potency...Giving is more joyous than receiving, not because it is a deprivation, but because in the act of giving lies the expression of my aliveness - Erich Fromm Read Niche Nannies Blog Article
Ava’s Garden
Kumpo School in the Massai Mara, Kenya
’Ava’s Garden’ was set up by Louisa Bishop who is one of our consultants here at Niche Nannies Nanny Agency. After volunteering at Kumpo School in the Massai Mara, Kenya, and seeing how little the children had to eat and drink she decided to set up a school garden to help feed the school. There had been a garden in school previously but the wild donkeys had broken the fence and destroyed the garden and there were it no funds to rebuild it.
We are in the process of building a school garden to help the children have some fresh vegetables and rice every day. Starting with onions, carrots, kale, spinach and potatoes and we then hope to expand this once the garden is established. We also have plans to place water butts around the school and village, some with a filtration system so it can used for drinking water as there is currently no running water in the school or village.

Long term we would like to replicate this project in other schools in the Massai as we feel it not only feeds the children healthy fresh food but also allows them to learn the skill of growing their own food.
We decided to call the project ‘Ava’s garden’ in dedication to my daughter Ava who was a miracle baby born at 27 weeks in Feburary 2017 and was this was done with the help of family and friends to celebrate her 1st birthday.
